Roger Federer – Forehand Magician

Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it on the blog 🙂 as usual not much to write about at this time of year but I thought I’d share 2 videos that were released over the last couple of days. The first by Raz Ols which compiles some of Roger’s forehands over the years, no fancy flicks etc. just pure hard hitting winners from everywhere imaginable on the court:

The next one is by tribute maker Isaac RF called Roger Federer – Relentless Passion (HD) and is very well put together:

Anyway enjoy! Brisbane is edging ever closer and Fed is hard at work in Dubai training, yesterday with Dolgopolov as per his Instagram.

Alongside playing the sport, I also enjoy writing about the tour, rackets, strings, and the technicalities of the game. 1. His forehands are going so fast I can’t even see the ball on my computer screen…but I have so many of these points practically memorized anyway LOL

Thanks for keeping the FedFandom going during this holiday lull. Jonathan!

  2. Hope you’re enjoying your holiday Jonathan.

Great videos! Really enjoyed them. Can’t wait for the tennis season to start! I decided not to go to Brisbane this time as when I was checking out the tickets for semis and the final in early Nov, there were no good tickets left. I felt if I couldn’t be at court side, TV might work just fine.

      1. I am, well, was going to Melbourne. Not to AO though but Kooyong instead, coz I really wanted to see Richard Gasquet live. The tickets were so cheap and accommodation costs reasonable. Just found out today he’s pulled put three tournaments, Doha, Kooyong and AO due to a back injury. I’ll probably cancel my trip. Rather stupid to let an exho cost you a slam, isn’t it??

  3. Merry Christmas to all of you FedFans!

Let’s hope for a brilliant 2016… GS18 is getting closer by the minute ??

  4. I’ve been watching the crazy weather everywhere. Jonathan, you said you are on higher ground so assuming you are ok.
The States are getting hit with tornadoes, floods, wild fires, blizzards…unreal. Wondering if Sid is ok, tornadoes touching down in Dallas.
    Bad in South America too.
Here is cold and clear. Tons of powder on the mountains.

    Seven more sleeps until Brisbane!

    1. Yeah flooding pretty close to me really. Very bad in some places, feel for the people affected.

We send 12 billion in foreign aid to corrupt nations yet don’t bother spending anything on our own flood defences. Good stuff.

  5. On another note, Roger the most googled person in Switzerland. Shame on many other countries including Canada….Kim Kardashian.

Jonathan, hoping things improve in the UK. Saw Cameron being yelled at on the news.

  6. Sorry to hear the weather misery. Looks really bad…hope for the better, happier weather soon in UK.
Many thanks for your fantastic job throughout 2015, Jonathan. Have a great new year 🙂

  7. Thanks for all the video memories – I remember quite a few and hope for many more + some of those fantastic flicks which bring a smile to all our faces.

Glad to hear you’re up on higher ground and have avoided the flooding. OK here in SW, but not far away from places on the coastline which are getting pounded. A really shitty time for those in the north. 🙁

Happy New Year to all peRFect tennis friends and looking forward to a great tennis 2016…not long now. 🙂

    1. Some good points in there, I just tweeted another good one of Feds best points vs. Djoker which is worth a watch.

Re flooding A lot of places that don’t normally suffer too badly up here have really taken a hit. The tennis courts I play on are completely wrecked. Must be a nightmare if it gets in your house though.

  8. We had an earthquake last night. The bed and dresser was shaking and the dresser handles flapping. Scary for a bit. No damage or injury.

Wanda, I love the “King Roger” facebook q&a he did at the IPTL. Did you watch that?

And a huge thank you to Jonathan. Hopefully you will be very busy in 2016 posting match after match.

  9. Hey all sweet people, hope you had a great Christmas and wishing you all a very happy and prospective 2016. May all your good wishes come true and may you shine in your personal life.
Also may the reason we all are here, the Goat, shine THE MOST in 2016. He sooooooo deserves a year like Rafa had in 2013 and like Satan had in 2015. Hope 2016 will be his turn to win it all (are you listening God?). Come on Ivan and Seve…. make it possible 🙂

Very sorry to hear about the floods in England. Hope you Jon and all your loved ones are oke. Sue sorry to hear about the earthquake. Hope you are oke too. Just heard about the fire in Dubai. Luckily no one got hurt. Hope Roger is oke too.

Speaking about Roger…. as much as I love him……. can someone please give him a very soft slap on the face !!! Dude…. is it ONLY your responsibility to make sure Switserland gets medals?? Why are you even considering dubs with Stan when you already will be playing singles and dubs with Martina?? Don’t you know that USO is right after that?? You are 34 years old dude…. please go for your OWN wins. You already gave Switserland so much…. you basically put them sportswise on the map. I know you will play till you are 40, which means you have a lot of times (even after the R-word like Hingis) to get medals.
Sorry….had to get that out 🙂

    1. Yeah that fire was crazy, I saw pics of the aftermath, looked like it had ripped through the place.

Stan said he’s not sure about Doubles yet. Cincy straight after Olympics, least it’s on the same side of the world though time zone wise but still a long flight. No idea where you’d fly from Rio or Sao Paulo to where in the USA?

  10. Hey Jon, many have said this before, but really thanks for all your hard work with the blog. This year with all my courses and exams, work and personal stuff I had been so busy that I couldn’t even comment a lot. And you…. beeing more busy, still having time to find things out, blog about it, comment and reply to our comments. Respect dude, really respect. I would like to say “take a b..”, but appearently I have said that sentence wayyyyy too much 🙂 🙂

Hope Roger will give you much good to blog about in 2016. And remember 31 May 2016 right? 5 years !! You have half the year to think about doing something special 🙂

Oh and Jon, lastly, just wanted to say before I forget that I agree with you on IPTL. It will last a few years, but I don’t think it will last very long. Even this year sooooo many days sooooo many empty seats. Roger (and Rafa) did get the stadiums almost sold out, but one day Roger in Dubai and Rafa in India had so many empty seats, more people normally come to see them practise 🙂
And not just the empty stadiums, some teams just seamed that they were not enjoying it that much. Last year it was new, now…. there was a different vibe. The only team that really seamed to have fun were the Indian Aces…. but ofcourse they were winning it all. I read such a great tweet that said that the Indian Aces were the Djoko of tennis, unbeatable. But they turned out to be Roger… winning it all except the final 🙂

    Happy new year

    1. Cheers Katyani.

Indeed 5 years in May, seems quite weird actually and doesn’t feel like I have blogged for that long. Not sure what my intentions were when starting it but it’s ended up here.

And agreed on IPTL, lots of empty seats and I agree about the atmosphere not being as good as last year, this year seemed a bit more of a chore for the players.

      1. Hey Jon, just don’t forget to do something special in May. You and the blog totally deserve it. Maybe something like a day in the life of a Fedfan?? That was really great 🙂

  11. Ps: Am I the only one who hasn’t watch Star Wars yet?? Sold out every time since the opening. Now the vacation is over… maybe I can watch it too 🙂

    1. Worry not! I too have not seen it, but since Jon has taken the cinema prices excuse already, I’m going to plump for “have no friends” 🙂

      1. Can I go for both? 🙂 Seriously, have no friends who are interested in SW, and since I’m not either, and don’t feel like wasting £10 on it (yes, that’s really what prices in outer London are these days) …

      2. Haha guys, I still haven’t seen it. Will see it soon. I am not a big SW fan (haven’t seen them all actually), but appearently it is a MUST see 🙂

  12. Happy new year to all Fed fans around here!

And a special thanks to Jonathan for all the times he made us relive awsome moments, translated our joy and frustration and helped us get through tough losses!

Keep the hard work Jonathan and may 2016 come with more success to this amazing blog and a couple GS to the Maestro (is that asking a lot? 😉 ) and of course the gold medal he wants so much!

Brisbane is around the corner, see you guys in a few days!!

  13. Yes, Alex, see you in a few days. And stop with all the 1sts in the new year.

Happy New Year and all the best to everyone!

  14. A happy 2016 to all FedFans! As for wishes mine are so – 1) So grateful to watch Roger playing happily. 2) his winning all, of course – – but first is really it
And Thanks Jonathan, for this stimulating FedFan-Meeting Place!
